The Department of Social Science (DSS) is one of the largest centres of multi-disciplinary social science research and teaching in London, with over 80 academic and research staff from a wide range of disciplines, including sociology, demography, psychology, anthropology, social policy and economics. It is home to five research centres, two undergraduate degrees, four masters programmes and a thriving doctoral community.The post holder will lead two second year modules in the Sociology of Gender and Qualitative Methods on the BSc Social Sciences and the BSc Social Sciences with Quantitative Methods. Additional duties will include: supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations; the provision of pastoral care and support; leading seminar groups; setting and marking assessments; and the performance of various administrative tasks and roles.Available from 1 September 2019, this post is a two year fixed term contract covering a maternity leave and sabbatical.
Key Requirements
The successful applicant will have a PhD in Sociology of Gender or a related field (candidates close to completion will be considered), and demonstrable background in the sociology of gender. Experience of supervising PhD students is desirable.
