The University of Lucerne is the youngest university in Switzerland. Founded in 2000, it has four faculties and around 3,000 students. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with its ten institutes and departments focuses on interdisciplinarity and innovation in research and teaching. The Faculty offers its almost 900 students a range of courses that are unique in Switzerland, placing great emphasis on excellent support and a close link between research and teaching activities.

- Conceptualization and realization of an independent research project to achieve a PhD in social anthropology;
- Teaching: one course per semester at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology;
- Assistance with organisational and administrative tasks;
- M.A. in social or cultural anthropology;
- Strong theoretical and empirical interest in the field of medical anthropology and/or anthropology of science and/or political anthropology and/or or economic anthropology;
- Regional specialization on South Asia is desired;
- Ethnographic fieldwork experience;
- Proficiency in English; fluency in German is an asset but not a condition;
- Independence and ability to work in teams;
